Two-Year-Old Care | Bright Beginnings Preschool

Two’s: Busy, busy, twos!

  • Great teachers and staff team! I really love the outdoor space at Mill Creek - shaded, fun, and plenty of fun things to explore.

    - Adrianne Herzog and Nathan Martin, Finnley's Parents (Two-year-old)
  • My daughter has progressed tremendously, both in the social aspect and knowledge of numbers and the alphabet. Ms. Cindy and Ms. Amber both provide an environment full of love for the kids to enjoy their day. Thanks for everything!

    - Maysaa Khojah, Samaa's Mama (Two-year-old)
  • Finn has had a great time at Bright Beginnings. I want to thank you all for welcoming our son with open arms! He’s had a blast!

    - Erica and David Gregory, Finn's Parents (Two-year-old)
  • The staff are unsung heroes who need more recognition in the community. Our son has developed so much in two months and looks forward to school. Bright Beginnings put my mind at ease when it came to my child’s care. I love how we walk in and all of the staff know his name. You can really tell how much the teachers love and care for the kids.

    - Brent and Jessica Vestering, Silas's Parents (Two-year-old)
  • We love Bright Beginnings as do all four of our little ones who have all attended Bright Beginnings!

    - Katherine Latimer, George's Mama (Two-year-old)
  • We would like to give a shout-out to the entire Forest Lakes team for taking such great care of our kids during these crazy times, and for showing up every day with smiles on their faces. They have truly been a blessing in the lives of Ian and Oliver. Thank you, team!

    - Rob and Racheal Dean, Oliver's Parents (Two-year-old)
  • This is a very good preschool. All staff members are very friendly and cooperative.

    - Nirbhay Desai, Davik's Mama (Two-year-old)
  • We have loved Bright Beginnings! I have seen a big change in my son’s ability to sit and actively participate during class which was something he struggled with. Ms. Brittney is wonderful and we will miss her!

    - Heather Glass, Cole's Mama (Two-year-old)
  • We are so sad to be leaving Bright Beginnings. You took such wonderful care of our older daughter and now our newest addition to the family! Thank you for your gentle care!

    - Rodrigo and Sarah Cazorla, Isabella's Parents (Two-Year-Old)

A little inside scoop on a two year old:

They want independence...but still need a hug from Mommy and Daddy

Two year olds are in the amazing space of journeying out of toddlerhood and wanting so badly to be a big kid, yet not quite ready to take on the badge of all things three. Nor should they!

They move at lightening speed

Twos learn with and from each other, model after parents and teachers and develop their skills very quickly with guidance and close attention from caregivers during the preschool and child care day.

My emotions are loud and clear

Two-year-olds have very strong emotions and are working to use their language, physical and social skills to let us know what their needs and wants are!

Me, myself and I... meets time with others

Socially two year olds love to interact with caregivers at preschool and with family and friends. And they spend as much time interacting with others as they do on their own- both experiences help them assimilate their world. Caring teachers provide time for both elements.

A few many ways we support and nurture your two year old:

Our two year old early childhood program carefully considers the developmental needs of those wonderful twos in several ways: but first their emotional, physical and social needs.

Here’s our secret sauce:

Small class sizes

Our rooms are clean and cozy and designed to allow for exploration among the interest areas, space to store your child’s belongings and areas to just hang out and get cuddles.

Custom classroom placement options

We encourage parent choice and accommodate requests for specific two year old placement including teachers. Our schools typically have two rooms to accommodate our two year olds because their needs and preferences vary.

We separate our twos based on age

We have a both a younger and older two year old room to allow proper group placement for your child.

We accommodate your requests whenever possible.

Sometimes children and their parents prefer specific teachers who have particular interests and strengths (separation, potty training) and we do our best to accommodate.

But there's more!

Outdoor Classrooms

If any age group needs to explore the great outdoors in small increments throughout the day it’s the twos! Partly because their attention span is short but mostly because they need to get the wiggles out continually, our Outdoor Classroom is just the ticket for high quality early childhood leadership. Unlike your average day care, Bright Beginnings is a preschool all the way!

By accommodating two year old needs in the outdoors we provide a safe and alternate place to learn and play. If your two year old likes to get dirty mucking around in the garden and flower beds, climb on everything in sight and play with water and sand, or outdoor classrooms are the place to play.

With our outdoor classrooms completely fenced in, with room to roam and interest areas to explore, nothing appeals to a two year old more than a busy day with a combination of small class sizes, a balance between indoor and outdoor activities initiated by the children and caring teachers and caregivers.

Pacing

In early childhood education, pacing is important. Unlike a public school, early childhood educators have the luxury of planning high quality activities for two year olds with group and individual needs in mind.

  • We value the concept of “looking to the child” for guidance regarding individual and group interests and love that we can allow longer time for favorite activities.
  • We have a structured schedule because of course twos need ample potty training support and need a combination of busy, active time and also plenty of time alone.

Flexibility with daily schedule and lesson plans within a structured and predictable day

Looking to each individual child as well as the needs and interests of the group as a whole is important in delivering a high quality day in care. Bright Beginnings provides a structured and predictable schedule allowing children to know the basic flow of the day including greeting and arrival time, potty and diapering, hand washing and snack, outdoor classroom time, lunch and nap prep and end of the day dismissal. The learning and play elements in between those areas have flexibility which allows children to explore an activity longer or move to something more interesting quickly. Our pre school teachers and assistants work with each other to ensure each child is nurtured and challenged according to their pace, interests and abilities, which can change daily!

Custom day notes feature exactly what parents want to see and hear

Utilizing our Tadpoles virtual day notes parents can get continual updates on how their little one is doing each day, something that eases guilt and worry from parents especially at first. We take pictures of your little one having fun and give you details about his/her day. You can communicate with us using the Tadpoles app which keeps us all in the loop!

"Hat's off to you for being an unwavering and wonderful daycare. You deserve the awards you have received. Just last Sunday at the park I had a stranger bragging to me about your school, stating what great things her son Joseph had learned and how he will miss it now that he's starting Kindergarten. Thank you for loving our children and for being advocates for their safety, education AND FUN!"- Merrill Family, Mill Creek
