Is Potty Training Required at Bright Beginnings? | Bright Beginnings Preschool

To simply answer the question –

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
It does not fit our family culture to refuse any child based off of lack of potty training. Our toddler and 2’s teachers are all more than willing and able to help your family in the process for potty training.

Here at Bright Beginnings, we believe that the child is most successful when their home and school bridge together as one as much as possible. Keeping the lines of communication open between parents and teachers is very much important to this philosophy - if or when you (or your little birdie) feel it is time to begin the potty training process, let your teacher know ASAP! Conversely, if your child is giving your teacher signs that they are ready to give potty training a shot then they will let you know as soon as they feel they are ready to start your little potato on the potty.

Potty training is not something that we feel we can force upon a child because we’re ready. It is something that they need to have their own initial interest in and we (both parents and teacher) swoop in to guide them along! Once any combination of these signs are displayed by your little birdie, then we are ready to go! When the potty training process happens, be sure that the same strategies used at school are used at home. Be sure to speak with your child’s teacher of any questions, concerns, and most importantly, the plan of action that you both intend to take together as a single potty training entity for your child

If there is anything to get out of this article it is that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Remember we are family! We are here to help every single step of the way and will be right there with you to celebrate this amazing milestone in your darling’s life!

Little Birdie Says: Here are some signs your child is ready for potty training:

  • Does your child indicate to you when they are “poopy” or “wet”?
  • Does your child ask to use the potty?
  • Do you find your child playing in or around the toilet?
  • Does your child wake up dry from sleep times?
  • Does your child start to take off their own dirty diaper?
  • Does your child take an interest in your potty times and attempt to join in?
