A lifelong Crozet native, Miss Sue graduated from Albemarle High School in 1968 and had a career in business and as a nursing caregiver for the elderly before joining Bright Beginnings in 2001. We met her when she was the grandmother of one of our students and we feel in love with her exuberant and positive personality and caring nature. Her wonderful energy is contagious and she joined our team and was able to contribute immediately. She learned early childhood and developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum development and licensing standards and easily engaged with children, families and co-workers. Sue multitasks like a pro and easily moves from soothing a child at drop off to communicating a policy to her staff to answering parent’s questions. After initially working as a teaching assistant, Sue quickly was promoted to lead teacher spending many years with our infants and later our toddlers, before moving into opening and closing our building, managing inventory and handling the day to day behind the scenes details, to assistant director. She now serves as co-director and as usual manages her responsibilities with ease, a big smile and renewed enthusiasm each day. When you meet her, you will LOVE her! Do you know that we call her the Mayor of Crozet? She knows everyone!

After taking a sabbatical to help raise her grandson William, she returned to our Crozet location as lead teacher and curriculum director in 2013. Margaret is a wealth of knowledge in regards to children’s literature, easily choosing titles that supplement our award winning curriculum. The quality of her classroom is evident just from standing outside of her door. The entrance to her classroom is constantly decorated and informative and is always enhanced with children’s artwork.
