Ms. Summer

Crozet Director

Summer graduated from Amherst, Virginia High School in 1996 and received a General Studies diploma from Central Virginia Community College in 1998. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Jason, in 1998 Summer moved around the country as an Army wife living in Maryland, Texas and Arizona before returning to Virginia. During her travels as an Army wife, Summer worked as an HR payroll rep as well as a currency analyst for Bank of America.

Bright Beginnings Background

Summer joined Bright Beginnings in 2011 as a preschool teacher assistant for one year before being promoted to lead teacher. Summer has taught twos, threes and pre-kindergarten and brings her perky and personable personality to us each day.

Summer now serves as Crozet Program Director supervising a staff of 25 and supporting approximately 125 families. Summer is the team leader everyone wants to work with. She’s fun, fair and open to listening to all points of view. She takes the time to our staff always mentor our new teachers and welcomes new students and their families with a hearty “Hello Darlin’!” Summer plans original and creative family events and fun and wholesome child activities. Summer is First Aid and CPR trained. and regularly completes early childhood training both in classroom and online to continue to enhance her skills and education.

Fun Facts:
  • Summer is a crazy sports fan! Her favorite teams are the Washington Nationals and the Redskins!
  • Summer is a baseball and softball mama! Both her kiddos play ball and she is their most avid fan!
  • Summer loves beach vacations and plays Bunco with her neighborhood lady friends once a month- Girls Night Out!
  • Summer is First Aid and CPR trained.

Crozet Director

Gina grew up in Pennsylvania, in a town called Shenandoah, no larger than one square mile! She moved from Pennsylvania to Charlottesville, and has been living in Albemarle county for 29 years. She completed two years at Penn State, her first step in focusing her energies on the field of early childhood education!

Early Childhood Background:
  • Majored in Early Childhood Education at Penn State for 2 years
  • Gina has 6 years of consistent experience working with preschoolers
  • Currently working on achieving her CDA
(Child Development Associate Credential.)

Bright Beginnings Background
  • Gina actually first started with Bright Beginnings 18 years ago!
  • She worked as the lead infant teacher at Mill Creek, growing into the infant unit coordinator, and then finally becoming part time director
  • Both of Gina’s daughters, who are now 19 and 23, went to the Mill Creek school
  • She pursued baking and running a home business for awhile, but couldn’t stay away from Bright Beginnings!
  • She returned to teach 3’s in April of 2017, and quickly became one of our fabulous directors at our Crozet school!
  • One of Gina’s daughters, Miss Julie, can now be found during the summer's working at our Crozet school

    • Gina is a 200 hour registered Yoga instructor, she loves teaching hot yoga!
    • Gina loves to cook and bake- she often makes our teachers cakes from scratch for their birthdays
